About the Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Metallurgy to join us.  As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering a consistently high standard of experience and service to our customers by building, maintaining, and championing a culture of customer focus across the department
  • Leading a team of Metallurgical Technologists and Technicians
  • Managing the workflow through the department by planning, implementing, and delivering the deliverables for our customers, reporting on these regularly
  • Ensuring competent and approved staff carry out tests and interpret test data accordingly
  • Carrying out test method modification, development, and validation of new methods in accordance with the documented management system
  • Balancing service delivery with cost to serve, ensuring costs are controlled within the budget
  • Sub-contracting any metallurgical testing requirements, (with customers authorisation) to ‘Approved’ laboratories, ensuring customers’ service levels are not adversely affected
  • Certification and calibration records are in place and are in line with current instructions and acceptance criteria
  • Ensuring all MI is trusted/clean data and then lead on the interrogation of all that is available to identify opportunities to improve performance so new product development initiatives and service delivery can be developed
  • The Management System procedures, ensuring these are implemented to maximise operating efficiency and maintain internal controls to safeguard quality standards
